Not only is the Vega sauna our most popular sauna it is also the sauna we have been making the longest. In fact, The Vega is the very first sauna I owned that inspired the Celebration Saunas journey. The Vega sauna, like all our 2 person saunas, is designed to be space-efficient. The Vega 2 Person Full-Spectrum Sauna fits in any room on any surface and plugs into a standard 15 amp household outlet. Plugging my new sauna into a standard household outlet was a huge selling point for me as a first-time buyer because it meant I could install the sauna without needing an electrician.
Of course, the Full-Spectrum Vega two-person sauna is a luxury item but the main reason most of us are purchasing a sauna is for positive health maintenance. My own decision in purchasing my first far infrared sauna was for weight loss. I can honestly say that I was skeptical that far infrared sauna could really cause me to lose weight. I thought all I would lose was water weight and that is true but what I didn’t realize is how much my weight was tied to inflammation in my body due to unmitigated toxin accumulation in my body. As I first began sweating and detoxing in the sauna, which in honesty took some time, my body was so toxic that I didn’t sweat for 60 minutes the first time I went into my new FIR sauna. Of course, I wanted to burn those 600 calories from sweating so I stayed in another 30 minutes. I don’t recommend this. Staying in my sauna for 90 minutes didn’t make me sick and it wasn’t harmful to my body because far-infrared light is life light or more clearly, body heat but I was definitely uncomfortable the next day. I will spare you those details but what I have since learned is that far-infrared sauna is shaking loose toxins at a cellular level and whatever you don’t sweat out dumps into the bloodstream where it is remetabolized by our kidneys, liver, and bowels or once again sequestered away from our vital organs and stuffed back into the subcutaneous layer of fat. Why the fat? Because when our bodies encounter environmental toxins it views as harmful to our vital organs the body responds by protecting our vital organs and putting the toxin in the skin to be sweated out at a later time. In today’s sedentary lifestyle including my own that means a lifetime of accumulated toxins in the fat cells of my skin. The skin is considered our 3rd kidney. It is the largest underutilized detoxification organ in the body. When toxins are stuffed away in the subcutaneous layer of fat it is encapsulated in water molecules and there it resides until it can be sweated out but if it can’t be sweated out it causes inflammation and it’s this inflammation that is the underlying cause of most chronic conditions like weight gain or allergies or lethargy which can have a compounding effect over time. Although you are losing water weight in your sauna initially, you are sweating out the toxins that are causing inflammation and weight gain in the first place. I can say that I did start to experience weight loss about 30 days into my skeptical experiment. I only used the sauna 3 times a week for 30 minutes the minimum we recommend and I noticed little changes at first, not weight loss though. The first thing I started to notice was that as I detoxed I started to sweat in under 7 minutes, then I started craving more natural foods like oatmeal or a raw red pepper. This was a big surprise to me being that I was on a rigid peanut butter cup and oreo diet prior to starting infrared sauna use. The sad news is that I no longer could enjoy a peanut butter cup or an oreo cookie because I could literally taste the chemicals in them and many other processed foods. Yuck. It turns out that I likely had a candida overgrowth. The bad bacteria in my stomach had taken over and didn’t care what my body needed to survive it made me crave sugar the one thing that makes candida survive. It turns out that candida is heat sensitive and when your body gets a fever it actually dies off. The die-off of candida from inducing a low-grade fever in my sauna created new brain signals to eat and crave foods that my body actually needed like whole grains and veggies. At the end of 30 days, my diet had somehow naturally changed and was replaced with better eating habits. I didn’t really think about changing my diet it just happened. I also noticed I slept better and had much more energy. As a mom of twin toddlers that alone made my sauna worth every penny. So after 30 days, I walk into the office and I say, “ok, so when’s the weight supposed to come off?” No sooner did the words leave my mouth I started dropping a pant size every 2 weeks. Over the course of 4 months, I went from a size 16 to a size 10. The size I was in high school!
There have been a number of changes to our Vega sauna over the years. We’ve narrowed the bandwidth of far infrared light to 8-10 microns to maximize the absorption rate because the human body has no resistance to far-infrared light at 9.4 microns. We’ve lowered the amount of EMF emitted as we have a higher percentage of clientele with EMF sensitivity. The newest change to the Vega sauna now incorporates full-spectrum near-infrared heaters. Our highest exposure to near-infrared light naturally is at dawn and dusk and it appears to encourage vitamin D absorption as well as act as a skin protectant from the midday sun. At dusk, near-infrared has healing and restorative properties from the midday sun. Now that I am over 40 the skin benefits of near-infrared are so much more important to me in keeping my youthful looks. Who can argue with improved collagen and elastin production? There are over 60 years of documented studies of the positive health effects of far infrared. Near-infrared has been studied for about 25 years and predominantly on the skin but they are finding new health benefits each year that include the treatment of joint pain, some tumors, and some degenerative disorders of the brain. Although many of these same benefits have been confirmed with the use of far infrared sauna in decades before.
